Monday, September 19th, 2011Thirteen years ago, I heard a voice yell across the The Set at Florida A&M, “HEYDC”! I turn around and there is Neesie waving and smiling at me. We met at freshman orientation but we didn’t remember each others names but she knew what I would answer to.
Thirteen years later, here we are. She married the love of her life almost 2 years ago to the date and they had their son less than 24 hours ago.
Saturday morning we met up for a quick maternity session before I had to rush off to shoot a wedding. Around 10pm, I got a text that her water broke! Phew…Thank goodness we didn’t let another day pass! Anyway, here are a few from our maternity session and a few of Baby Galloway at about 12 hours old. All 9lbs 13oz of him!

Early Morning Finger Paint!
Saturday, April 16th, 2011I think as adults we forget how to have fun. I have to say that my son keeps teaching me everyday to step back and just enjoy life!
It’s raining today and my engagement shoot has been rescheduled for tomorrow. So I decided to crack open the finger paint my husband bought for our son for Christmas. Anybody that knows me, knows that this is a huge step for me. I hate messes! LOL Messy hands that can get all over my walls and furniture, UGH! You get to the point as a parent when you really realize, it’s not all about you. We always give him crayons to play with but at his school they use finger paints and he loves it… so what the heck…. painting it is! We got a little messy but it didn’t really matter. He had fun and I even joined in after I put my camera down.
I am learning to be a kid again!

Sunday, January 23rd, 2011My BFF (I never us that acronym) wanted to to do some family pictures for Christmas. So of course when she called me I said OF COURSE!
We actually did this New Years Eve and it was cold! I am happy that everybody hung in there, smiled and had fun.

Summer’s Twins
Sunday, January 23rd, 2011Well… not really Summer’s twins (the season) but Summer’s twins. Summer is the beautiful lady in these pictures, who looks absolutely fabulous at 35 weeks pregnant! You know that glow that pregnant women are supposed to have; I didn’t have it, but she really did!
We were originally suppose to have our session on Monday the 17th of January but the DC area was hit with a pretty big ice storm. Needless to say, we had to reschedule and find a date that worked for both of us and her husband. We agreed on Friday the 21st but I was a little nervous because once again DC was in the path of a major snow storm. Thank goodness we did not have a lick of snow that Friday morning! It was sunny and beautiful. I guess things work out how they are supposed to. I got an email from Summer’s sister (who was my midwife when I was pregnant) on Sunday morning saying that Summer is now the proud mommy of twin girls. 5 weeks early but very healthy! I can not wait to met these beautiful babies. Her 18 month old daughter Louisa is absolutely gorgeous and I know she is going to be a wonderful big sister!

My wonderful in-laws
Saturday, December 18th, 2010Over Thanksgiving weekend, my in-laws celebrated their 34th anniversary. My husband, James (my son), and I drove down to Jacksonville, Florida for the holiday week. Thanksgiving with the family was a lot of fun. Lots of mojitos, Phase Ten, Dominoes, and football! Saturday was their actual anniversary, so that afternoon I took them out for a photo shoot on the boardwalk. Meanwhile, my husband, brother-in-law, and his girlfriend stayed at the house and prepared a surprise dinner for the happy couple. I am not the best liar, but I had to pull out all the cards to keep my in-laws from wanting to go home to early. I don’t think my father-in-law was too happy about me wanting to make a ton of extra random stops! Anyway, the evening turned out great and they really enjoyed the food and the company!
Congratulations on 34 years happiness and I pray you have 34 more!
